The hydrogeological features of this karst region give the village and the surrounding catchment area spectacular landscapes rich in water heritage: wash houses, mills, springs, gardens, fountains… including the famous Bèze resurgence, listed since 1932 in the inventory of natural sites and monuments. But it is also the village’s many remarkable houses and buildings that give it its charm, as well as the abbey and its gardens.
This is a real opportunity for AQUA to benefit from all the historical, geographical and social experience of this water village, which has managed to strike a balance between tourism development, the maintenance of local public services and the preservation of its natural environment.
There is no doubt that the exchanges to come will be rich among our members with such a pilot territory at our side.
For more information on the rich history of Bèze, visit their website and Wikipedia page, it’s fascinating!
